MASS OPTIONS FOR ST. ANTHONYS
St Anthony’s Parish
Due to the shortage of priests and the age profile, The Archdiocese has begun a process of
grouping Parishes together in partnership.
St John’s, St Gabriel’s, St Anthony’s and St Brigid’s Killester are such a partnership.
A partnership committee comprising representatives of Parish Pastoral Councils and the
priests has ben set up to plan the way forward, while at the same time retaining our individual
identity. As you are aware we have only one priest in our parish.
I am seeking your views and opinions in relation to the possibility of reducing the number of
weekend masses in St Anthony’s. All parishes are carrying out a survey on numbers
attending weekend Masses during the first three Sundays of November. Approximately 300
people attend our three weekend Masses on Saturday 5.30pm, Sunday 10.00am and 11.30am
I would like to propose three possible options
A. Saturday 10.00am & 5.30pm
Sunday 10.00am

B Saturday 10.00am & 5.30pm
Sunday 11.30am

C. Saturday 10.00am & 5.30pm
SUNDAY 11.00AM

N.B Saturday 5.30pm is the Family Mass and part of the Confirmation and First Holy
Communion programme agreed between th three Clontarf Parishes
We will leave a sheet available next weekend for your comments and suggestions
*While there are many Masses available over the weekends, I would suggest that attending
Mass in your local Parish, when possible, is a commitment to your Parish Faith Community
and your involvement and participation is an essential part of what Eucharist means.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Comboni Fathers and retired Priests who
help to cover Masses over the years.
This issue will be discussed at our next Parish Pastoral council meeting at the end of
November
I look forward to your comments and suggestions
Fr. Larry
